Anting Town looking forward to a smarter future
ANTING Town held its first Future Oriented Industries Summit Forum on April 27 and released its three-year plan in cooperation with Tongji University. The tie between the two parties emulates the mode of “Stanford & Silicon Valley” and is set to start new engine for regional development.
The plan lasting until 2019 focuses on new-energy driven and smart automobile, smart manufacturing, modern vehicle service and emerging culture, and IT industry.
The layout to upgrade 333 hectares of industrial land use is the emphasis in the action.
Anting and Tongji also inked a framework on talent cultivation, incubators and public research platform. The smart city located in Anting attracted 10 funds and financial institutions for strategic cooperation, including Tongji’s alumni fund, Hexi Investment and others, the scale reaching more than 10 billion yuan (US$1.45 billion), a big boost for the industry.
A total of 55 key projects including Shanghai Leckon Electrical Technology Co Ltd, Solarzoom and SwissCapital have signed to settle, and are expected to yield 15 billion yuan in the next three years.
Sponsors of the event include around 20 famous universities at home and abroad, including Tongji, Tsinghua and Duke University, university leagues and alumni leagues, trade unions and many Fortune 500 enterprises.
On April 25, a talk with representatives from Tongji University and Jiading officials was held to communicate and design specifics on the three-year plan.
At the forum, professionals from international trade unions gave lectures on how to develop a smart city and the main four industries in Anting. Jiading District Director Zhang Xi said he believed cooperation with Tongji University would create a blooming demonstration for innovation elements and services. Zhang said the four industries in a smart city could integrate well with the scientific strength in the university.
Anting is now the largest automobile industry base equipped with advanced technologies, a talent pool and a complete industry chain.
Its industrial value totaled 319.4 billion yuan in 2016, taking up 10.28 percent of Shanghai’s industrial number.
By 2019, the Anting smart city underway is estimated to make an annual income of 30-50 billion yuan.
