Arts festival an inspiration for Anting
ANTING Midsummer Arts Festival, which opened on June 24, is presenting more than 20 performances during its three-month run, including art shows, interactive events and lectures.
On launch day, Anting Town and Anting International Automobile City signed an agreement with art companies including Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, Shanghai Ballet and Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center to promote art activities in Anting.
Ji Pingping, an outstanding ballet dancer, attended the opening ceremony to promote ballet knowledge and dancing techniques, attracting many residents and children.
Among the various activities for the public to enjoy during the festival, a fantastic concert by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra and a Shanghai farce were deemed great fun by festival lovers.
Several events provide children with an opportunity to improve their knowledge of arts.
Li Dalai, the curator of the Dalai Clock and Watch Museum, showed the inner workings of clocks, while famous paper-cutting artist Wang Jianzhong explained the technique of this traditional Chinese art to young audience.
Anting resident Huang Xiaoyue said she was excited by the arts festival and was expecting to see more performances.
Her daughter, a second-grade pupil, took up a ballet dancing course after watching a performance of “Swan Lake.”
