Auto center attracts big players

FOUR national auto organizations have officially announced their plans to set up in Shanghai International Automobile City.

It is the first time that the organizations have agreed to do business together at such an industry center.

The four organizations are China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), Society of Automobile Engineers of China (SAE-China), China Auto Talents Society (CATS) and China Automotive News.

The four will integrate industry resources and realize common goals such as profit through joint development and cooperation in projects, technology, talent and information exchange.

Seven projects have been initially decided, including a grand ceremony highlighting China's new energy vehicles and a media conference. Industry competitions will also be held, such as a national university new energy car initiative involving students and a student auto knowledge contest.

The four organizations are composed of elite leaders from various fields of the auto industry. They will strengthen Shanghai International Automobile City's development and influence.

CAAM was established in 1987 as the national industry association to bring together manufacturers of vehicles and spare parts, and auto-related enterprises.

SAE-China was established in 1963 as the national and academic body corporate and a non-profit organization involving enterprises, institutions, corporations and professionals in the fields of automotive and related industries focusing on research, manufacture, sales and management.

Set up in 2005, CATS oversees the integration of professional talents for the industry.

China Automotive News was established in 1984 and is affiliated with the People's Daily.
