Auto culture fair zooms into town
THIS year's Shanghai Automobile Culture Fair will be held in Jiading District from April 12 to 30 featuring fierce car racing as well as galas, traditional snacks and cultural heritages.
The Chinese Grand Prix, the highlight of the fair, will be held on April 14 at Shanghai International Circuit with some of the world's best drivers competing for the trophy. Nico Rosberg of Germany is the defending champion, but watch out for Britain's Lewis Hamilton, who is the only two-time winner of the race (2008 and 2011). VIP boxes are available so racing fans can get closer to the action and learn more about the world's fastest sport.
A super race car carnival and celebrity competition for charity will be held on April 28 and 29.
Vintage cars will be on display at Shanghai Automobile Museum in Anting Town during the fair.
At Water Landscape Square, visitors will be able to enjoy various traditional snacks including rice cakes and Nanxiang xiaolong, dumplings stuffed with juicy meat.
Meanwhile, visitors can appreciate some of Shanghai's folk art such as bamboo carving and straw-weaving, as well as wax figures from Madame Tussaud's. The closing concert will be held on April 30 at Automobile Expo Park in Anting.
