Between June 1 and August 20, 1,729 babies were born at the Jiading District Maternal & Child Care Hospital, the busiest time of the year. To cope with demand, the hospital opened earlier than usual, at 7:15am. The rising number of natural deliveries adds to the workload. Despite its longer procedure, the doctors persuade the women to deliver naturally, since it is better both for the mother and the baby.
