Bidding for a place in top self-driving routes
Online voting to select this year’s top self-driving routes in China is underway.
Since 66 nominated routes were published on the website (http://36lu.ijia360.com/43290.html) on October 1, related route managers and designers have been adding more content concerning accommodation, travel and shopping to the routes in a bid to attract self-drivers to try the routes and finally come up with 36 selected routes on December 30.
The Jiading Auto Culture route is one of the candidates. It is coded 2013—D—031.
The route, managed by Jiading Tourism Bureau and designed by Shanghai Circuit Co Ltd, has entered for the route voting as one of the short trip of extreme type.
On the trip people can learn the 100-year history of the automobile industry at China’s first auto museum, experience the top speed and passion at the Shanghai Circuit and feel the culture of the old water towns by visiting the Confucius Temple, Fahua Pagoda and Zhouqiao Ancient Street.
When the World Endurance Championship took place in Shanghai on November 9, a self-driving route experience activity was held.
People watched the “6 Hours of Shanghai” race at Shanghai International Circuit, learned the country’s auto industry in the Anting International Auto City and enjoyed the local snacks and culture at the Jiading old town.
The activity was designed by ijia360.com and Autonavi offered the map navigation service.
Shanghai International Circuit covers a land of 5.3 square kilometers. The 5.451-kilometer track for the Formula One Shanghai station is within the circuit and shaped like the Chinese character of “ÉÏ.”
Besides the F1 track, there is an international kart site, the first of its kind in China. People can experience the speed and passion of the kart when listening to the roar of the racing cars.
People can also experience flying in the sky and free falling in the wind tunnel, and drive a Bombardier off-road vehicle at the cross-country course.
Shanghai International Auto City in Jiading’s Anting Town is China’s first city relying on the auto industry and is building its own auto culture, just like Detroit and Wolfsburg. People can visit the production line at Volkswagen and take sightseeing in the Auto Exposition Park.
Anting also owns China’s first auto museum, where nearly 70 vintage cars in the 100 years of auto history are displayed. In the center of the museum, the duplication of the world’s first car made by Carl Benz and Hongqi CA72, the first generation of domestically made car, are on display.
