Big expansion plans underway for Jiading New City

NEW plans are being devised to expand Jiading New City to 61 square kilometers from its current 17 square kilometers.
The expansion will extend from Chengliu Road M. to the east, Yunzaobang River to the south, Jiasong Road N. to the west and Huyi Expressway and Jiajian Expressway to the north.
The plan is intended to maximize location advantages for Madong Industrial Zone.
Businesses that do not meet the development concepts of the new industrial zone will be eliminated.
After the expansion, Beijiao wetlands and Shanghai International Circuit will be included in Jiading New City.
"Including Beijiao wetlands in the central area of Jiading New City reflects the local government's great confidence in this ecological project," said Zhou Fangzhen, chief engineer of the Jiading Land Planning Bureau.
"It will increase the new city's overall style after completion."
Construction of a 2.8-square-kilometer support area for Shanghai International Circuit will be kicked off soon.
Suggestions also have been made to relevant city organizations on the feasibility of building a big exhibition hall and tourism facilities.
"To local residents, the expansion will improve their quality of life," Zhou said.
Construction of core areas of the new city is in full swing.
