Billions invested in key projects

JIADING District plans to invest more than 30 billion yuan (US$4.8 billion) this year to facilitate 314 projects related to municipal infrastructure, social programs, agriculture and public housing.
Construction of the first batch of 13 projects, including the North Jiading Country Park, the Institute of Acoustics of Chinese Academy of Sciences and an underground parking lot on Baiyin Road, will be launched while construction of the northern extension of the Jiading-Minhang Elevated Road will be accelerate.
Five roads connecting Jiading with Baoshan, Qingpu and Minhang districts are also in the pipeline.
A water supply project which will cost 800 million yuan is also due to get underway soon.
Fresh water every day
This project will carry 770,000 cubic meters of fresh water every day from the Yangtze River by pipeline over a distance of 25 kilometers to the different water plants in Jiading.
Road lamps along the Jiazhu Highway and South Shengxing Road are to be installed by the end of June.
Construction of the China Welfare Institute Kindergarten will begin this year and the facility is due to open in the autumn of 2015. The construction of 16 other schools will also be launched by the end of the year. The schools will be set up in Jiading New Town, Huating and Waigang towns.
Jiading District Dental Clinic will be relocated and a medical image center will be set up at Jiading District Central Hospital.
More greenery will be planted along the S5 Highway, and the Jinsha Park and Liudao Wild Life Habitat projects will also be started soon.
In addition to the 314 projects, preliminary work on other projects will be accelerated to enable construction to begin as soon as possible. One of them is the Renewable Energy Center. Upon completion, the center will be able to treat a maximum 1,500 tons of garbage a day to meet Euro 2000 standards — the strictest emission standards in the world.
