Birthday party for seniors

ZHAO Qidong was one of seven senior citizens who enjoyed a surprise birthday party at the Jiafu Community in Juyuan New Area recently.
“I never expected you would celebrate our birthdays with such a special party,” Zhao said happily.
To prepare for this birthday party, over 20 volunteers rehearsed a singing and dancing program for several months.
At the party, community official Wang Yuzhen said, “Nowadays young people are busy with their work, and many parents are reluctant to ask their children for a celebration, so we organized the party instead.”
Last month, eight people over 70 celebrated their birthday parties in Fujia. One of them, Wang Ruilin, 89, was unable to go to the party due to his health condition. So social workers visited his home, bringing him greetings and birthday cakes.
According to community official Wang, there are about 300 seniors over 70 in Fujia. The community will hold a birthday party each month for seniors who celebrate their birthdays in that month.
