Blooms
JIADING has replanted flower beds and pots in scenic spots with sunflowers, periwinkle, sage and other plant varieties able to withstand hot summer temperatures. The work involved 618,000 pots and 9,940 square meters of beds in 13 scenic areas.
Egrets
Egrets returned to Jiading to breed after environmentally friendly conditions were created. The birds are raising their young even in the shadow of the district's industrial area.
Water lilies
Up to a thousand water lilies are in full bloom in main river courses in Jiading, including Dongyun Pond, Gongjiabang and Zhaojin River and Green Bamboo Pond. The displays have attracted large numbers of onlookers.

An exhibition of Tibetan jade, organized by the Yun Jade Museum, opened recently in the Jiading Bamboo Carving Museum. On display are some 65 pieces of jade. The exhibition will be on display until the end of August.

New road signs have recently been installed at the intersections of main roads and scenic spots in Anting Town. The signs provide traffic and other information. Touch screens are also available on the Interactive Inquiry System.
Caring
A day care center for the elderly opened on July 6 in Xuhang Town. The center cost 2.6 million yuan to build. It can accommodate 300 people and also includes a multifunction room, library and gym.
Garden
The relocation of the third stage of Nanxiang Old Street began on June 30, involving 4 units and 123 families. A private garden will be rebuilt on the former street, which was owned by Li Liufang, a literary giant of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
Bridge
The renovation of the Henli Bridge on Round-the-City Road has kicked off. The revamp includes bridge railings, girders and a widening of the span.

Jiading took control of three of the first batch of service-standardization projects of Shanghai. The three projects are: Taitaile industrial tourism, Anting standardization market and the Jiading modern agriculture tourism program.
