Book marks family’s donations

A book documenting a local family’s contribution to the Jiading District has been published after months of preparation.

The book, “Donated Antique Collections from Zhang’s Family,” has been compiled by Jiading Museum.

The Zhangs are a distinguished family in Jiading. Zhang Bihan, the eldest son, was a famous collector, connoisseur, calligrapher and painter in Shanghai.

In 1987, Zhang and his wife Zhu Weicong donated 11 cultural relics to Jiading Museum. After Zhang passed away in 1995, his son Zhang Shichao and daughter-in-law Jin Yunqiu donated several fine relics to the museum.

In 2011 the son died of a heart attack, and Jin donated a large number of items. The donations by the son and his wife are the largest donations to the Jiading Museum so far.

Ninety-eight relics donated by the Zhang family are included in the book.
