Box office boosted by blockbusters and upgrades
JIADING Cinema's monthly box office hit a record high in January, equaling one-third of the total revenue for 2008.
Visitors to the cinema totaled 41,647 last month. According to cinema staff, the record was set because many of the blockbusters were continuously played and simultaneously with the city's downtown areas. "The Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf," a cartoon series that has been played on television for three years, attracted many children after being turned into a film.
The other factor for the boosting of the box office is that Jiading Cinema has upgraded hardware and marketing.
The cinema has introduced digital film equipment and improved its Website, providing a better experience for audiences and giving them first-hand information from the Internet. There were also preferential set tickets to promote films. All these factors helped account for January's box office hit.
