Burning charms of Spanish dances
DURING World Expo, the Spain Pavilion holds a semi-daily singing and dancing performance - "Passions of Spain" - at its 100 seat circular theater.
Starring over 50 famous artists from Spain, the performance is directed by Pere Pinvol, chief director of the renowned Price Circus Troupe from Madrid. The performance features a distinctive Spanish repertoire consisting of Ylana's pantomimes, Sol Pic?'s modern dances, Miriam M??ndes' flamenco dances that incorporate musical masterpieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as magic and marionette performances.
For visitors who still have no time to watch these performances in the Expo Park, Jiading would be an ideal place to enjoy popular songs and dances from Southwestern Europe. Here in the Nanxiang Zhidi Industrial Park of Enterprise Headquarters, Shanghai XPT Exchange Center of Spanish Culture stages interactive shows starring nearly 100 European artists and exhibiting the fascinations and charms of Spain.
Mr Rafael, the president of XPT, has a nice Chinese name - Lu Feng. When he first came to Shanghai in 2005, he founded his business near the Nanpu Bridge and led his performers and designers on tour around China. He has so far planned quite a lot of major events.
One of their performances was a warm-up show for a concert at Wenzhou Stadium by Wu Bai, a Taiwan-based rock star. During the event, dozens of dancers in fancy outfits performed a series of dazzling shows including a fashion show and a hairstyle show with fluorescent ornaments, while exhibiting fluorescent body paintings with their spirited dances. Meanwhile, a top Spanish DJ entertained the crowd with electronic music incorporating classic and modern elements.
Later, Rafael moved his business to Jiading, for a simple reason: he had fallen in love with the town. He has become fascinated by every old street and garden in this town, where he enjoys walking around in his leisure time to experience the integration of modern and classic cultures. No doubt, his decision to move here is also based on some practical considerations: Nanxiang provides convenient transport and is only 20 minutes' drive to Hongqiao airport, which is very important to a team that frequently tours around the country.
