Bus terminal to be more convenient

JIADING North Bus Terminal is now complete and is expected to be put into use next year.

The bus terminal is at the crossing of Pingcheng Road and Chengbei Road, next to Metro Line 11’s North Jiading Station.

“It serves as the starting station for 12 bus routes with a total area of 12,000 square meters, nearly twice the temporary station, and it’s expected to handle more than 3,000 passengers a day,” said Jiang Xiaojing from Jiading Transport Bureau.

In the terminal there are oval-shaped one-way, two-lane roads, providing 33 bus parking spaces outside the oval. Passengers can come inside the oval to wait for the bus.

The design of a bus terminal under a commercial center has been adopted at Anting, Nanxiang and Malu towns, and it will be a model for bus hubs in the future, according to the transport bureau’s Zhang Jinxing.

“It can raise the value of the land, be convenient for passengers and bring more potential clients to the commercial center,” Zhang said.

The bus hub is to install an electric display board so that passengers can find out how long they can expect to wait before the next bus arrives.
