Buying insurance for residents

THE Jiading District Government purchased commercial insurance for 582,000 people with registered permanent residence and those with temporary residence permit in the category of talents.
The government signed an agreement with the Shanghai Branch of China Life on integrated insurance covering accidents and natural disasters.
Beginning on January 1, 2013, these residents can get insurance of up to 200,000 yuan (US$32,150) when deaths or disabilities are caused by natural disasters, fires, explosions or being hit by flying objects. They can also receive up to 50,000 yuan in case of injuries or death caused by drowning or electric shock.
