Children flying high to make good videos

A SOCIETY has been set up in Jiading whose young members use camera-equipped drones to make videos.
The average age of the Aishangfei Drone Society鈥檚 members is around 13, and they have used the drones to take videos of the Jiading Industrial Zone, Lijiang Fruit Park and Wintersweet Park.
The children are pupils at Nanyuan High School, Loutang School and Zhuqiao School.
The drones are expensive, costing at least 7,000 yuan (US$1,148) each for an entry level machine.
Wu Yuhui, one of the organizers, teaches the children to use simulators to learn how to fly drones by remote control. After two months of practice, most can master the skill.
In order to operate drones well, the children have to learn about mechanics and electronic circuits too.
After six months鈥 training, most of them can manage the take off and landing of drones, which is one of the keys to using the drones to take good videos.
鈥淭he drones fly in air at least 100 meters above ground, so when landing they can crash,鈥 said Zhou Qianliang, another organizer.
