Cooperation platform shapes
JIADING District government is building a "one-stop" platform in the Yangtze River Delta region for the cooperation of manufacturing companies, universities and research institutes.
The district has been named as a national demonstration base for the cooperation by the Chinese central government.
From January to July, the Jiading's strategic emerging industries had a combined production value of 22.25 billion yuan (US$ 3.5 billion), accounting for 17.2 percent of the region's total.
For the next five years, Jiading has set a production value target of more than 100 billion yuan for these emerging industries.
It also aims to foster five leading enterprises with an annual output value of over 10 billion yuan each, and around 100 backbone companies of 1 billion yuan each in the next five years.
One of the district's efforts is witnessed at the Shanghai Jiading Technology Exposition which was held at Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Center at the end of last month where nearly 100 research institutions and companies attended and sought ways to cooperate with one another.
The exposition featured the debut of 152 high-tech achievements and attracted 3,500 visitors, a record turnout for the event.
The biggest highlight was that for the first time it has attracted China's inland areas, as well as the cities of the Yangtze River Delta.
Delegations from more than 30 cities including Zhenjiang, Jiaxing and Haining participated.
Jincheng in north China's Shanxi Province set up an exhibition area of 160 square meters to promote the city.
The exposition featured four sectors including a science and technology products show and public service platform.
The event also included a conference of Shanghai manufacturing companies, universities and research institutes, a contest of overseas talent innovation and entrepreneurship, and an interface activity between Silicon Valley bank capital and enterprise.
