Cooperation training engineers

TWENTY-TWO engineers from Shanghai Volkswagen have been hired by Tongji University as teachers, while more than 100 Tongji students are employed by the auto company.
The 2014 Tongji University-Shanghai Volkswagen Educational Base for Social Practice seminar was held at the university’s School of Automotive Studies recently.
It was the third such seminar since 2012, aiming to set up a platform for the cooperation and exchange between the two parties.
From 2013 on, both sides work together to complete a certain project each year. The theme of the project is determined by the auto company, while the university enforces it. So far, two projects have been completed, including the design of the rear seat area of B-level cars and exploring a new modeling language for Skoda for the Chinese market.
Meanwhile, the chassis system development group of the school is cooperating with the auto company on core technologies such as the overall design of braking systems and the design of power train suspension systems.
Cooperation between two parties began in 2007 when both sides launched a training program for automobile engineers and established a national engineering practice education center.
