Cutting books to increase efficiency
The number of account books in Nanxiang Town’s Yongle Village is being reduced to 39. The 2012 Village Committee statistics show there are 175 account books used as the basis for examination and evaluation of more than 40 activities from civil administration to sanitation. However, the committee only has five staff members and the great number of books became a major burden. Eliminating duplication and cutting non-essential activities saves time for officers to deal directly with the public, said village Party secretary Zhang Yulin.
