Districts agree on innovation cooperation

Jiading will cooperate with Suzhou鈥檚 Kunshan and Taicang in its neighboring Jiangsu Province on a wide range of sectors, particularly in automobiles, medical treatment and transport.
The district government has signed a cooperation agreement with Suzhou on coordinated innovation.
By 2020, the total gross domestic product of the area is expected to reach 800 billion yuan (US$125 billion), of which more than 600 billion yuan will be generated by strategic and emerging industries.
By then, expenditure on research and development will be no less than 3.5 percent of total GDP. Sewage treatment rate will be more than 95 percent, and green coverage ratio over 40 percent.
Shanghai鈥檚 Metro Line 11 connects Huaqiao Town in Kunshan with suburban Jiading District. This year, construction will begin on a road linking Taicang鈥檚 Yuelu Highway and Jiading鈥檚 Chengbei Road.
The Jiading-Kunshan-Taicang Science and Technology Expo will make its debut in September with its opening ceremony in Jiading. From next year, the expo will be held during the annual Shanghai Science Festival in May.
The Jiading-Kunshan-Taicang Scientific Innovation Park will be set up with a zone in Taicang鈥檚 Chengxiang Town as its core.
Zhangjiang High-Tech Park Jiading branch, Kunshan National High-Tech Zone, Kunshan Economic Development Zone and Taicang High-Tech Zone in Suzhou will also join the group.
