District鈥檚 incentives providing more jobs
JIADING District has achieved an average employment rate of 95 percent by offering incentives to companies and career guidance to the unemployed.
A man surnamed Liu, 53, found his new job in a nursing organization through employment assistance center in his community.
He had worked in a leather factory but lost his job when it went bankrupt.
“I found a new job thanks to the center,” Liu said.
Over 98 percent of residents said they were satisfied with the project in a survey.
Nanxiang and Jiang-qiao took a lead among all the communities with employment rates up to 100 percent. They were deemed as models for other communities.
“We cared more about the residents rather than the honor,” said Xue Wei, an official with the employment assistance center’s Nanxiang branch. “We need to figure out new ways to combat unemployment.”
Nanxiang has been holding job fairs to boost employment every Friday since 2012. In 2014, it began to provide career guidance for graduates.
“My son found job after receiving guidance,” said the mother of a graduate surnamed Yin. “Now he has confidence in himself and found what interested him when took an internship,” he said.
Nanxiang has initiated business incubators and offers graduates loans of up to 2 million yuan (US$300,752) and subsidies to encourage startups.
