E-businesses agree to establish local base
A batch of e-commerce enterprises signed agreements to settle down in Jiading District recently.
As a significant means to change the driving force of economic development, the district has attracted almost 60 e-business enterprises, which are now in fast development.
Jiading government not only cultivates a good relationship with enterprises, but also provides a series of after service, which makes Jiading more attractive. To develop e-commerce, the local government takes the initiative to be more open and approach relevant businesses. While the manufacturing industry is of great strength in Jiading, few government staff members know enough about entrepreneurs from e-commerce enterprises.
At the 2010 China Internet Stationmaster Annual Meeting, managers from e-commerce companies were surprised to find government officials from Jiading participating. As a result, it left a good impression of Jiading on the companies.
Today, the local government has become an "acquaintance" to various e-commerce meetings and has partnered with the China E-commerce Association and Internet Society of China. It has laid the foundation to the next goal of attracting businesses.
"To attract enterprises, especially famous ones, preferential policies on taxation alone will not make it," said Wang Fan, assistant to the general manager of Shanghai Hope Economic City. "It is necessary to do homework first in order to understand enterprises' demands."
The board of directors of Zhongsou.com decided to base the company's East China operation headquarters in Hope Economic City. The company will support e-commerce platforms for 50 to 300 local enterprises after establishing a base in the district.
Jiading government has long formulated its industry development plan. To support enterprises, it provides low-cost rent for office spaces and rental subsidies, and serves to build a cooperation platform for banks and enterprises.
