E-commerce clicks with creative enterprise park
LEADING domestic online supermarket yihaodian.com has entered the Beijing market after a successful trial operation in Shanghai.
Established in 2008, the e-commerce website is located in the Creative Industry Park in Jiading District. The company has 500,000 square meters of storage there to service 20 delivery spots across Shanghai. Sales volume has been growing at more than 30 percent a month.
Jiading is home to more than 80 e-commerce companies.
These companies are considered a plus for the district's economy because they utilize less land, consume less energy and are more non-polluting than traditional brick and mortar industries.
Deng Huajin, chief executive officer of qeeka.com, a service website for home design, wedding sets and other key consumer goods, said his firm chose to locate in Jiading because local government support was strong and the clustering of similar industries was beneficial. "With so many e-commerce enterprises in one spot, it's convenient for trading,'' Deng said. "The location also makes it easier to attract investment."
The number of registered members at qeeka.com has reached two million, with 700,000 clicks a day. The website boasts more than 12,000 suppliers and branches in 26 cities. Its sales volume this year is expected to exceed 6.5 billion yuan.
Another resident of the industry park is gasgoo.com, one of the leading automotive business-to-business marketplaces in China. It provides information, offline negotiation and industry news to buyers and suppliers. Featuring more than 30,000 buyers and 200,000 registered suppliers, it has sales volumes doubling annually. The company said it may go public with a stock market listing within three years.
