Electric car firm set to run and run

DEARCC Automobile, a smart auto development and manufacturing company with a research department in Jiading, is well placed amid a growing domestic market for new energy cars.

In the first half of this year, sales of new energy vehicles have doubled to 412,000 cars from last year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

By the end of June, DEARCC had sold over 2,000 cars of its latest electric model EV10.

“Over half of the buyers are individual consumers, which means that we are starting to be recognized by consumers,” said Zhao Huan, the company’s vice president.

To drive the EV technology, China’s subsidies for vehicles with batteries sustaining less than 150 kilometers were canceled in June.

Higher technical demands

When government’s tightened policies demand higher technological standards, DEARCC is well placed to cope.

It took the opportunity to enhance development of its EV10 Pro300 model.

Its battery will allow up to 320 kilometers given ideal circumstances and speed. That range would be enough to cover Shanghai and neighboring cities of Hangzhou, Ningbo and Nanjing.

Protocols of the model have begun in Shanghai.

Apart from completing mass production of its first model EV10, DEARCC has seen a bigger picture with regard to its industrial layout.

Targeting young consumers, the company has launched a new production line “Enovate,” which aims to present eight models including SUVs, MPVs and sedans over the next five years.

It is estimated that the overall sales volume for the series will reach 360,000 cars by the year of 2025.

DEARCC’s 1,000-mu (666,667 square meters) car production base was established at the cost of 5.5 billion yuan (US$802 million) in neighboring Shaoxing last November.

Its first phase will begin operations in the second half of 2019, expected to turn out 60,000 to 90,000 cars each year.

An agreement with Cixi and Ningbo in Zhejiang Province has been signed to build a production base for new energy commercial cars, with the first batch of products to go to the logistics area next year.
