Enjoy the wonders of wistaria in bloom

THERE are more than 100 wistaria flowers featuring 24 different breeds in Jiading Wistaria Garden, and the middle of May is always a great time to appreciate the purple, pink and white flowers in bloom.
Free admission makes the garden popular for both local residents and tourists. The garden is an ideal place for taking wedding pictures. The young and old can play or take a leisurely stroll around the park, and appreciate the diabolo performed skillfully by the local.
Jiading Wistaria Garden was first built in 1997 to celebrate the sister-city agreement between Jiading and Wake Town in Okayama, Japan. The garden has a total area of around 10,000 square meters and is situated on the riverside of the old city south of Jiading Town.
Jiading district plans to plant more wistaria trees outside Wistaria Garden. Along the 2-kilometer-long riverside greenbelt, a 400-meter-long wistaria corridor will be built soon to provide a new green walking path.
Adopting the previous wistaria garden style, the new wistaria gallery will maintain the same design with two wistaria planted every 5 meters, and cherry blossoms will also be planted to make the scenery more beautiful.
The grafting procedure has already been completed but because the wistaria flowers need two years to breed, the new wistaria gallery will not open until 2013.
