Exit-entry service changes affecting expatriates
From January 2, the Exit-Entry Administration of Shanghai Public Security Bureau offered five new service measures with three related to expatriates:
Pre-applications to extend residence permits online
After online pre-application and pre-approval, foreign applicants will be able to get extended residence permits in about an hour after they bring all their paperwork to the third floor of the administration’s counter for foreign online applicants on a designated date. They will not have to leave passports at the administration as before.
Administration’s WeChat public account opens
With the mobile app WeChat becoming more popular, the administration has opened their official WeChat public account (上海公安出入境管理) from January 2. Applicants can tap keywords in a dialogue box with this account and answers will be provided around the clock. Applicants can also use WeChat links to enter the administration’s online platform to apply for documents online or see updates of the approval procedure.
Taiwan compatriots can pre-apply online
Taiwan compatriots applying for multiple endorsements to visit mainland can log on to the administration’s online platform (crj.police.sh.cn/eemis_tydic) to pre-apply for the document.
With this measure, the procedure will be cut to four days, compared to five days offline.
