Expert teams on call at Anting’s new hospital

With top-class teams, first-class equipment and a clean modern environment, Anting Hospital of the Third Hospital affiliated to Second Military Medical University, the former Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgical Hospital, opened to the public on October 18.
Six years ago, the Third Hospital Affiliated to Second Military Medical University signed a cooperation agreement with the government to relocate its Changhai Hospital to the Pudong New Area while transforming the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgical Hospital into a comprehensive hospital relocated in Anting Town.
Staff at the new hospital include around 30 expert doctors and professors in departments of general surgery, urology, respiratory medicine, neurology, gynecology and dermatology from sister hospitals, Changhai and Changzheng.
Located at 700 Moyu Road N., the hospital covers an area of 266,666 square meters.
Equipped with 1,500 beds, the hospital has four buildings for outpatients and emergencies, teaching and administration, medical technology and wards. It is the largest single hospital in the country to have been built at one go.
It also has a rehabilitation center with 294 beds, the only one of its kind in a Shanghai third grade class-A hospital.
Meanwhile, the hospital has 30 air-cleaning operation rooms with a batch of advanced medical equipment.
Apart from providing professional medical treatment, the hospital will continue research projects in various areas.
Located opposite Anting Hospital, the National Center for Liver Cancer Science and Technology led by renowned doctors Wu Mengchao and Wang Hongyang is the second national science center after the establishment of National Center for Nanoscience and Technology.
The center will focus on research into hepatitis and hepatic cirrhosis developing into cancer and the advanced medical treatment required.
