Experts predict e-commercial future

MORE than 400 elites took part in the 2010 e-Commerce Industry Shanghai Summit at 3131 Creative Industry Park in Jiading recently.

With a theme of "collaboration, innovation and win-win," the summit featured four topics on business models, industry chain integration, bottleneck breakthroughs and tradition transformation.

Besides brainstorming of elites from a batch of e-commerce enterprises, it also brought views from policy analysts and comments from third parties and audience.

Fan Min, chief executive officer of Ctrip.com, a one-stop online travel service provider in China, said in the past decade, the rapid development of Internet in China had created a batch of "industry heroes."

Yuan Yue, the host of talk show "Brain Storm," said China's e-commerce industry still lacks high-end service.

Wu Jiong, the former chief technology officer of Alibaba Group, looked forward to seeing a "blowout" in the development of e-commerce.

The summit was more than an exchange of ideas. Twenty e-commerce enterprises including Mbaobao.com, Yesmywine.com and OLOMO.com signed a contract to settle at 3131 Creative Industry Park in Jiading. Meanwhile, the e-Commerce Research and Training Base of Overseas Education College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and e-Commerce Talent Training Base of Shanghai College of Science and Technology were opened at the same venue.

E3131.com, the portal for "3131" innovation alliance, was launched during the summit.

Nine e-commerce enterprises have joined the alliance in which they can share customer resources with each other and provide better service.

3131 Creative Industry Park is located at 3131 Jinshajiang Road, which was renovated from old factories and warehouses, and is now home to 47 enterprises. Among them, 33 are e-commerce enterprises.

Another e-commerce cluster in Jiading is Shanghai Cultural and Information Industry Park.

At Jiading Industrial Zone, the number of e-commerce enterprises has risen to six.

With e-commerce as its new pillar industry, Jiading District government has launched preferential policies on scientific and technological innovation, talent introduction and intellectual property rights protection.

By 2012, the district will boast 10 distinct cultural and information industry bases and more than 10 cultural and information enterprises well-known across the nation. The revenue of the cultural and information industry will reach 50 billion yuan (US$7.32 billion), while the trading volume of e-commerce will reach 100 billion yuan.
