F1 Chinese Grand Prix 鈥 a symbol of Jiading District
Not everyone has the opportunity to witness an F1 race in close distance. The sound of the engines, the smell of the machines and the noise of audience is like a symphony of speed.
In 2004, F1 entered China for the first time, and a visit to the Shanghai International Circuit in Jiading District became another must for car racing fans and the F1 Chinese Grand Prix is the biggest and the most important car racing event in China.
The Chinese Grand Prix has also become a symbol of Jiading District and brought a lot to the district in the past 11 years. Through the race, many people have learned that Jiading is also an automobile industrial center, and F1 has made Jiading’s industrial structure more balanced and complete.
Organizers have not stopped thinking of cultivating a mature, stable and long-term tourist market in Jiading instead of just a flash in the pan. They hope F1 is not only a profitable event, but also benefits more industries such as hotels, restaurants and transports.
To help audience learn more about the sport, Shanghai Automobile Museum has launched an exhibition to introduce the history and culture of the event.
Visitors can learn the stories behind the cars, the teams and the drivers who have left their names in the history of the sport.

The F1 World Championship was founded by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and is held annually. The current chairman of the FIA is Jean Todt, former CEO of Ferrari.
In F1, drivers gain points at various grand prix, and the team and the driver with the highest points become that year’s champions.
The top speed of F1 cars is 406 kilometers per hour so far, created by Honda Racing. Throughout history, some also used to build cars which can reach the speed of 500 to 1,000 kilometers per hour, but those models could only run for a short time and could not be considered as race cars.
