Families enjoy first phase of Jiabei park
Nearly 100 families recently took part in an orienteering competition in Jiabei Country Park.
The park opened to the public last September, aiming to build a new space for urbanite.
“In April, I brought my children to the Jiabei Country Park to take part in the muddy obstacle race, and we spent a good time. I’m here again today for joy and relax,” said Yu Jinglei, a native of Jiading, who grew up playing in the fields.
“It used to be a remote and inconvenient rural area with nothing but paddy fields,” Yu said. To his surprise, the country park has offered a wide range of activities since it opened. Yu feels relaxed in the park as he can breathe clean and cool air, and he likes to take his family there for camping.
The first phase of the park covers 7.39 square kilometers. There is 3 million square meters of paddy fields and a 600,000-square-meter forest designed for bamboo, vineyards and bird habitats and other activities.
The first phase features 19 landscape bridges and over 20 kilometers of waterways. Visitors can tour the waterways on an ancient-style ship.
According to park official Liu Yajun, Jiabei Country Park can offer not only fun but also good-quality services in the future.
“This year, we have arranged large cultural and sports activities as well as a series of family experiences,” said Liu.
“We actively promote the development of modern leisure agriculture, research and learning camps for the young, leisure sports and other industries.” At present, a festival of farming life is being planned.
