Fierce competition for top entrepreneur awards

The final of the 5th Keji 50 Entrepreneurship competition was held late last month in Nanxiang Shineland Park in Jiading District. After furious competition in the past six months, 12 teams stood out from their rivals in the 12 industry road shows.
Around 200 companies and projects participated this year in sectors such as film, drama production and “Internet Plus.”
The top prize went to a laser touch mini projector. The Surong360 project, a website providing financial help for students, was the runner-up.
In the past three years, more than 200 participating companies have relocated to Nanxiang. Thirty have received funding totaling over 50 million yuan (US$7.9 million). The competition offers an opportunity for a face-to-face talk with investors.
The top prize winner took the first laser touch mini projector to nationwide markets. The product enables people to directly control the pictures on screen by hand movement.
Surong360.com is a project that has already made profits but its founder Xue Ziwen hopes to receive more support from investors.
The website platform provides financial services, usually small sums, to students.
Launched in October 2013, surong360.com now has millions of registered users, covering 2,000 universities and colleges. Its trade volume has exceeded 100 million yuan.
Xue plans to add more services to the website such as social networking and part-time job listings.
Participants also showcased some surprising ideas in this year’s competition.
For example, a type of “green tire” made of new material is much cheaper and more eco-friendly than traditional rubber tires. The new material is sourced from gravel.
A Nanxian technology company showcased 3D printing solutions and technology products such as wearable medical equipment and smart hardware attracted attention.
