Fly in your own sky
EACH person has his own spiritual world, a world that inspires your imagination and creation. "Live your own life" has become the slogan for this attitude toward life. In Jiading, there're a group of young people who have built up their spiritual world in their own ways. Some may catch various scenes with a camera; some may write poetry and some set up their own Websites. Others may perform Peking Opera and play different roles. No matter which path they choose, they all enjoy flying in their own skies. Poetry gives my life meaning

Since I heard a poem in pingtan (a traditional Chinese form of storytelling popular in Suzhou) in my childhood, I have become a faithful fan of poetry. Ancient poetry is one of the most precious heritages of Chinese culture.
Through thousands of years, it has carried the shining history of our nation. But when talking about ancient poetry, I think intonation is the most important, because the poems themselves have their own rhymes and intonation. So I believe that the understanding of ancient poetry begins with intoning, and that's why I fell in love with poetry when I first heard the poem at the opera.
I regard myself as a dull person that is not sensitive to the outside world. However, maybe this makes me concentrate more on one thing. In my study of ancient poetry, I think a deeper understanding is better than reading so many poems. I used to try to recite all the ancient poems of the Tang Dynasty (618?907 AD), but I failed since I easily forgot the previous poems during my reciting process. After that, I decided to study one genre intensively. Although it's not easy either, I enjoy it.
My love of ancient poetry makes it difficult for me to be interested in other poems and modern elements. I always think that ancient poetry is more enchanting than what is popular nowadays. I also try to write poems when I'm full of different emotions. So I often store up my emotions in daily life because a good poem needs feeling.
Many people may think my life is boring since all my interest is in ancient poetry, but they do not understand the happiness it brings. When I read those poems, I feel refined and at peace. When I write poems, I feel full of passion. That's the most wonderful moment in my life. The power of the lens

Photos catch the beautiful moments of our life and make them last forever while videos can make them more moving and more vivid. When shooting videos, you can record this world with different perspectives and attitudes and find many wonderful scenes that you may have missed before.
To be honest, I'm a cameraman. I cannot stop shooting videos unless I want to be jobless. But when I do it in my spare time, I want to film documentaries that arouse people's emotions.
The key point is to express the inner heart of the main character, which has been neglected by the mainstream media for a long time. When shooting videos I can observe others' minds more carefully. When my videos are appreciated by others, I feel extremely happy and comfortable.
Shooting videos also allows me to make more friends, which is another joy. Maybe it's due to my personality or my job, but I can easily make friends with the subjects of my videos. I always treat them honestly and faithfully, which actually helps me experience their feelings and understand their thoughts. For example, when I was making a documentary of a writer, I spent two months reading all of his works, collecting his photos and videos and interviewing his friends and relatives. I cannot form a complete character without such information. In fact, what I did is what I must do and it helps in making new friends.
The Hungarian movie artist Bela Balazs said that documentaries should undertake the great mission of recording human history with pictures. As someone born in the 1980s, maybe I haven't realized that I'm doing such a lofty job, but I feel satisfied when I can catch those "real" moments in life. It does not mean that every second of life should be recorded. Shooting documentaries is just like creating commercials. It's a process of thinking and refining.
In my world, I shoot videos for my enjoyment, and recording reality is the source of my happiness. Born to sing

Born in 1982, I have a hobby that doesn't seem to fit my age - the opera. I'm a huge fan of Chinese operas. I often think that if I had been born in old Shanghai at the beginning of the 20th century when opera thrived, I would have fainted from happiness.
I joined the Peking Opera community club. Now I watch or perform opera every Sunday afternoon. It has become an indispensable part of my life.
I have been keen on opera since my childhood. I grew up with my grandfather who has performed in operas all his life. So when I was still very young, I was influenced by his performances. Not every child likes opera after hearing it, but I did. When I was 5, I performed in public for the first time. When I heard the applause and cheers, I realized this would always be a part of my world.
I'm always puzzled as to why most college students don't appreciate opera. It was very popular many years ago. At that time, everyone liked it, no matter rich or poor, old or young, just like pop songs nowadays.
There used to be a survey that randomly asked 10 young people: "Have you watched Peking Opera before? Do you want to watch it?" Eight answered negatively to both questions. The other two said they would not actively watch opera. The reason was very simple - they didn't like the slow rhythm.
Some people say the art is declining, but I think the opera is involved in young people's lives in other ways. Many pop singers such as Jay Chou and Leehom Wang have put many opera elements into their music. The opera has partly become popular again. I believe that when I'm very old, I will still sing my opera songs. My life is always colorful and different since I'm a super fan of Chinese opera. World of discovery in cyber land

It is not a world only for big investors. A small investor also has its place. Sometimes just a bit of inspiration, a patent technique and a small investment can grant some youths a good opportunity in life. But I think that while I am building and managing my own Website, the fun I enjoy most is its process.
After graduating from college as a major in information technology, I became an IT director. After work, I began to establish the Website www.jiading.com with my friends.
At the beginning, it was just like a message board that recorded the people and things happening in Jiading. But as we continued to work on it, we found that Jiading was much more attractive than we expected. It encouraged me to make the Website bigger and more complete. Now it includes a section to make friends, to read literature, to release news and pass business information. As the number of clicks has kept rising, I have changed my work from part-time to full-time hours.
When managing this Website, I'm attracted by the Web's culture. I'm not a major in literary arts, but I have found a literary heart through this Website. When developing this site, I set up a forum of literature communication. That gives me many opportunities to read some good articles. Although I cannot write such articles myself, my interest in literature is more enhanced than ever before.
In addition, I also admire the net's power of gathering people. I've organized some parties for net friends to meet each other in real life. When we gathered in one room, we realized that the world is so small, especially when someone found the guy he chatted with online the night before was his former classmate.
The cyber world does not simply mean typing and clicking alone. All this communication brings happiness.
