ORIGINATING in Anting, herb-spot fabric is an ancient folk art treasured by the government of Jiading District.
A research association on herb-spot fabric craft was established at Anting Town in November 2008. Five practice bases for herb-spot fabric were also established to provide training to more than 5,000 people each year.
Also, text books on printing and dyeing techniques have been edited by folk artists to let more local people know about the craft.
The herb-spot fabric also appears in folk performances such as singing and dancing, fully showcasing its charm.
Nowadays, herb-spot fabric has been listed as an intangible culture heritage at district level and has been submitted to be listed at the city level.
