Freeing up land for better quality industry
JIADING District is eliminating enterprises with low productivity to save land for those with high productivity and efficiency.
Before making a decision, factors such as industrial structure, environment protection and tax payments will be comprehensively considered.
At Anting Town, Shanghai Solarsav Glass Tech Co experienced deficits for several successive years and owed a debt of 85 million yuan (US$12.448 million). It occupied an area of 7.33 hectares, but more than half of it was unused.
After Shanghai Angong Economic Development Co, Ltd won the land through auction, it attracted Fulaite Glass, one of China's biggest glass processing enterprises, to locate there.
It covers an area of 3.67 hectares with a total investment of 38 million yuan.
Later, Dingfeng Metal Production Company also moved in to expand its business, while its old plant was used by "Zhongao Elevator," which invested US$30 million.
By the end of last November, the three enterprises had made a profit of 59.12 million yuan, 8.66 million yuan and 4.11 million yuan respectively.
At Jiangqiao Town, land freed up by the elimination of low-productivity enterprises amounted to 44 hectares in factories of more than 280,000 square meters. Thirty-one new projects have been introduced to the area. Their annual tax payment is expected to exceed 70 million yuan, four to five times that of the former figure.
At Nanxiang Town, the plywood market didn't match the town's future plans so its 77 plywood shops were moved out.
It will be replaced by a new purchasing center with construction to start in April. It will become a Nanxiang landmark and strengthen the town's service industry.
