Full community involvement in World Expo

JIADING District and its people are fully prepared for the start of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China on May 1.

A big LED screen at the district's emergency response center and Expo security center displays real-time images and related data which are transmitted from more than 3,000 cameras scattered around Jiading.

Police cars with Global Positioning System can provide real-time information at critical time for decision makers.

During the Expo, a special team of almost 1,000 security guard volunteers from across the country will be relocated to Malu Town. A local organization and volunteers will support the team by setting up service hotlines, printing guidebooks and other activities.

Jiading has prepared 41 performances both in and outside the Expo site to present its local art, customs and culture to the city and the world.

The 30 performances at the Expo site will be played three times each day from September 28 to October 7.

Featuring dancing, singing and martial arts, they will also promotes local artworks such as straw plaited articles and bamboo carvings.

The other 11 performances will be programmed from May at external sites such as Grand Gateway Plaza in Xuhui District. Jiading's 132 volunteers for the Expo site will help keep traffic order and guide visitors.

The district has set up 46 volunteer service stations: 1,500 volunteers have been selected from 5,000 candidates to provide advice, translation and emergency aid services for visitors from home and abroad at the stations.

Meanwhile, 100,000 volunteers in Jiading will be active in keeping public order at intersections, Metro line stations, bus stations and shopping malls.
