Get involved as district hosts interactive festival
FROM October 16 to 29, Shanghai Interactive Festival of Theater in Jiading will host five interactive dramas, 10 public cultural activities, seven drama workshops, two seminars and a creative contest, officials said.
The festival, part of the citywide Shanghai International Arts Festival, will open with a German electronic music concert, where 35 German drones equipped with LED lights will display different formations following computer programs. The opening performance also involves a laser harp as well as string and wind musical instruments native to the lower reaches of Yangtze River, and particularly Jiading District.
Children from Shanghai Small Fluorspar Star Art Troupe will sing during the drone display.
One of the organizers of the festival solicited 35-dot formation maps from the public during the preparation stage of the festival and the selected works will be part of the drone show.
A Canadian video-interactive drama depicting a romance in which a robot lacking a music module plans to create a song for its female human lover will make its Asia debut at the Jiading Culture Center on October 22 and 23.
A United States’ robot concert staged by a robot musician and a human drummer with a robotic arm will be staged on October 28 at the center.
Two original interactive dramas will be staged as the debut of a new interactive theater in Jiading. One drama features multimedia and augmented reality technologies. The other one will be a stage adaption of popular Chinese animation series Brother Corpse.
Public cultural activities will include a public experience day for arts, science and technology. Drama workshops will include a workshop discussing augmented reality technology and performing arts. A youth drama contest testing new ideas of integration of technologies and drama is sponsored by drama company Kai-xinmahua and Tencent.
