Graduation projects show draws praise
Graduation projects are a toast to one鈥檚 school days. A recent exhibition on such projects, held at the Shanghai Art and Design Academy in Jiading, drew much praise.
The exhibition, featuring 鈥渂looming youth and life,鈥 displayed more than 200 pieces of work, compiled by students from the school鈥檚 23 majors in six departments.
They included a variety of topics and demonstrated vigorous passion for art and rich imagination.
鈥淭hey have rich connotations and tend to be appealing in the marketplace,鈥 commented Zhang Pei, director of a comics company, who said he was keen to hire some of the talents.
The students put in a lot of effort to prepare for the show.
鈥淢any of us spent nights together to put up the exhibits,鈥 said Luo Ting, a graduate with the painting major. She mixed the art of painting with new materials to create a non-traditional piece of work.
In fact, the young artists fascinated not only the visitors to the show, but also viewers outside the exhibition hall.
The Yi nationality costume placed at the most obvious spot in the clothes area, was independently designed by costume design students. In June it was put on display at Prince Kung鈥檚 Mansion in Beijing, winning fulsome praise.
The digital art department鈥檚 teachers and students also represented the academy at the 2018 International Design Week, which was jointly organized by UNESCO, Royal Artist Circle of Barcelona and Moscow Design Week among others.
Their six exhibits, including 鈥淪hanghai-style paper cutting,鈥 鈥渨ater village kettle鈥 and 鈥淢a鈥檚 shadow puppetry,鈥 engaged Chinese thinking toward modern art while displaying unique Chinese traits in art design. Little wonder the team won awards and accolades.
