Green projects take shape
ECOLOGICAL scenery with plants and water features have taken shape in the central area of Jiading New City. Yuanxiang Lake, the city-surrounding green belt, Ziqidonglai Park and Shigangmen Pond are four major projects in the area. Besides water scenery, green belts and terraces, the area also features distinctive landscape design.
At the intersections of Xiwang and Yungu roads, Xiwang and Yunping roads, and Yining and Yima roads, a red "steel wall" features an eye-catching hollowed design of rose and lily.
Wang Minhua, manager of the project department at Jiading New City Development Co Ltd, said the wall is an artistic design as well as a road sign.
One of the "steel walls" is decorated with huge taraxacum. Behind each "steel wall" lies a recreational corridor, which features doorframes in different colors. Wang said that it could help create a unique contrast with typical green belts.
At the square close to the junction of Xiwang and Shengxin roads, nine huge tables each with two chairs are designed to bring a feel of an outdoor chess room.
Two sets of sofas are displayed outdoors at the junction of Xiwang and Yunping roads. With a height of 1.5 meters, they are hard to reach although visitors somehow want to sit on them.
In the middle of the Xuanxiang Lake, an architectural work with three "grids" in irregular shapes provides a place for visitors to rest and enjoy the surrounding scenery. It also conveys the concepts of energy-saving and care for the Earth to visitors.
At Ziqidonglai Park, riverside lanes paved with oval-shaped pebbles are awaiting the arrival of visitors. Close to the park, a square featuring a fountain, bamboo forest and a basement is under construction. Wang said the square will use a rainwater collection and purifying system. The rainwater will be used to support the fountain and irrigation of plants. It will be completed in August.
