Greenery revamp planned among scenic spots
JIADING District will improve the greenery of its old towns by renovating or constructing ecological paths as part of the district's plan to build a low-carbon ecological city.
The district will invest almost 1 million yuan (US$153,138) to revamp the greenery by the end of the year. Four stereoscopic scenic spots will be set up at the entrance of Jiading Town and along the sightseeing streets such as Nandajie Street and Chengzhong Road. The flower bed at the district's entrance will feature the initials of "Jia Ding" - JD - adorned with doves of peace.
"We will introduce more colorful flowers such as orchid, salvia and delphinium to the traditional single-colored green landscape," said Yuan Huiqing, deputy chief of the district's landscaping department.
The district will renovate nearly 8,000 square meters of green land around 4A-class scenic spots in the Zhouqiao area, the Confucius Plaza, antique teahouse, Tacheng Road and Qinghe Road.
The trunk roads - Bao'an Highway and Tacheng Road - will be turned into two landscape boulevards with a total length of 6 kilometers within the year. Zelkova, golden rain trees and gingko trees will be planted rather than the single choice of camphor trees. The green layout will display diversified views along the newly built boulevards in different seasons.
The district will build 400-meter-long wisteria paths on both sides of the 2-kilometer-long Huancheng Road with two wisteria trees planted every 5 meters and interplanted with oriental cherry trees. There are also many benches provided for the visitors to have a rest. The project will be finished by the end of the year.
