High-speed rail on track
SHANGHAI-NANJING Intercity Railway will be launched on July 1.
By then, it will cut the trip to Nanjing, Jiangsu Province to 73 minutes from the current two hours.
A trial operation was kicked off on June 1 to conduct final tests on equipment. The intervals between trains were around 10 minutes.
The railway boasts two stops within Jiading District ¨? Anting North Station and Nanxiang North Station.
As the first stop in Shanghai, Anting North Station will serve as the "first impression" of the city for passengers.
Four green belts will be built along the line in the district.
At the intersection of Bao'an Road and Waiqingsong Road, a green belt covering 1,000 square meters has taken shape. The trees of cedar, ginkgo?and sweet osmanthus will provide a vibrant green scene. Nearly 20 species will be planted to offer displays in all seasons.
Since June 2, Nanxiang Town has launched a monthlong environmental improvement campaign to grow trees and add greenery along the line within the town.
Three new bus lines will be launched to connect the two stations, including Jiading 52 Line, Nanxiang 3 Line and Anting 7 Line.
Anju Line will be adjusted and add a stop at Anting North Station.
In the future, trains on the intercity railway can be examined and repaired at Jiangqiao in Jiading. Three maintenance garages for CRH (China Railway High-Speed) trains have been constructed.
With the most advanced technology in China, the site is one of the four national maintenance bases for CRH trains. The other three are in Guangzhou, Wuhan and Beijing respectively.
