High-tech enterprises making advances

JIADING District led the city's districts and counties in China's third batch of innovation enterprises announced by the Ministry of Science and in key new high-tech Torch Program enterprises.
Fan Dan, chief of the department of scientific and technological industrialization of Jiading Science Commission, said that the government will support the development of a technical enterprise from the very beginning. Last year, a total of 64 enterprises obtained 4 million yuan (US$612,552) of innovation funds for small- and medium-sized technical enterprises. Thirty-three projects received 1.9 million yuan of city-level supporting funds for major new products while another nine enterprises were honored with 140,000 yuan of district-level funds.
The district is expected to add 60 more enterprises to its 170 state-level new high-tech enterprises and 10 more firms to 53 enterprises in the city's scientific program.
Jiading-based Shanghai STEP Electric Corporation, one of the China's third batch of innovation enterprises, pays great attention on its scientific research. It sets aside 8 percent of its revenue annually for its scientific development and has succeeded in the development of a new high-voltage frequency converter, which allows the speed of lift reaching 7 meters per second, comparing with 4 meters per second of the old one.
