High-tech research finds a home
JIADING District signed a cooperation agreement with East China Institute of Computer Technology on December 7 to build a research and production base for China Electronics Technology Group Corporation in Jiading District.
After the construction is finished, the annual profit and tax will reach over 500 million yuan (US$73.32 million).
At the same time, a group of high technology companies such as Huadong Computer will be settled in Jiading, and Shanghai Micro System and IT Research Institute has also signed an agreement with Juyuan district in Jiading, which means in 2010 it will return to the district.
So far 10 high-tech research institutions are in Jiading. In Juyuan alone, there are six research centers at national level and one experimental base.
These seven institutions have already developed over 430 patents, with 71 of these pushed into mass production, with 13.8 percent of their production bases in Jiading. In addition, these six research centers now hold stocks in 20 enterprises, among which 16 are in Jiading, with a tax of about 40 million yuan last year.
The cooperation between companies and research institutions benefits enterprises. After Shanghai Hengjin Photoelectron Company cooperated with the Institution of Optics and Electronics, sales are expected to reach 10 million yuan within three years.
At the end of November, Jiading High-Tech Industrialization Conference and Jiading Research and Production Cooperation Meeting took place respectively.
Five agreements were signed by the Chinese Academy of Science Shanghai Branch and over 20 research units such as Fudan University displayed their latest research achievements to over 180 enterprises. Forty-two cooperation projects were signed on the spot.
The five agreements between Jiading and Chinese Academy of Science include building up the area as a "High-Tech Production Base of Chinese Academy of Science."
Shanghai Research Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanisms will establish high-tech enterprises focusing on intense lasers; Shanghai Micro System Research Institute and Jiading government will build up a Shanghai Research Center of Internet of Things; Shanghai Institute of Ceramics will establish a research and production base of New Sodium-Sulfur Cell; and Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics will set up a branch in Jiading.
In addition, Shanghai Science and Technology University Jiading Intelligent Agricultural IT Experiment Base has been established.
