Home decoration should reflect owners' personality
SHOULD a home look like a guest room in a hotel? No, I don't think so. The atmosphere of a home should reflect the peace, warmth and happiness of the people who reside there. So, white painted wood carving on an arced window, an abstract painting in the living room and stylish transform a home with the personal touches that say "This is me."
I decided to redecorate my home and chose simplicity as my theme. Some friends say it looks too harsh with its white walls, black floor, coffee curtains and furniture. But I insist that it's a reflection of my personal tastes.
Once, a child asked me to explain an abstract painting hung in my living room. I told him that it was the feeling and colors of the painting, not the theme that was important. In short, I like the painting even without explaining it.
Aluminum-wire lamps in the living room, dining room and hallway attract the eye, I think. I consider the d??cor my "masterpiece." The lamps cast orange light on the ceiling and walls through aluminum wires, giving the effect of blooming grey flowers. I separated the corridor from the stairs with frosted glass to let in more light and create a sense of openness.
In the bedroom there is nothing but a bed. White painted wood carved with arrows on the arced window is reminiscent of a Mediterranean style. I can see clear sky through the window when lying on bed. Similarly, an engraved board separates the bedroom and the study to keep a balance between privacy and openness.
