DOCTORS and nurses in Jiading District have been divided into teams to provide home medical services to local residents.
"By giving Jiading residents the benefits of home visits, medical care in the district will dramatically improve," said Zhang Liming, an official from the Jiading Health Bureau.
The district now has 86 teams of doctors and about 500 staff. Each team comprises at least one licensed physician along with nurses and medical assistants. They provide basic medical care, disease prevention and chronic disease treatment.
"A hospital without boundaries'' is the aim of the program. Four medical teams in Anting Town Community strives to handle the medical needs of 100,000 local people.
In Xuhang Town, each community-based doctor will visit five families each day. Residents will be advised on how to stay healthy. Nurses will be sent in after diagnoses to administer routine procedures such as shots and infusions.
