I keep busy and training programs help improve my confidence
I AM Sheng Jiaming from Class Two, Grade Five, of an ordinary primary school in Jiading. On May 15, I joined in the event "Growing Up," jointly organized by Jiading Broadcasting and Television Station, Jiading Youth Activity Center and Jiading Cultural Center. It was my second time in this contest.
I played the leading role in an original stage play in the last contest. The play told how a primary school student suffered setbacks during the rehearsal of the stage play "Lotus Lantern" and how he realized the values of friendship and teamwork. My young friends and I played it in round after round of the contests and finally won first prize.
Despite my young age, I have been taking training courses at the Art Troupe of Young Stars since age five. I have taken various training courses in bodybuilding, performance, crosstalk and clapper talk. Recently, I have been practicing marimba and snare drum. My classmates ask me if it is too much to do after school. I enjoy them all, I told them.
Through these training programs, I have both enriched my knowledge, and mastered some special skills. I'm also making progress. I am no longer a timid lass as before. I am now outgoing and deal with people confidently.
Shanghai is hosting World Expo 2010 this year. So I have prepared the show "A Song of Haibao." I will compete with students from many other schools. The top 30 candidates in the first round will then appear in a live contest to be broadcast by Jiading People's Radio at FM100.3. Ten winners will come out in the contest based on the scores given by a professional panel and the audience. These 10 will receive intensive training at an art summer camp, and perform in an MTV program tailor-made by Jiading Broadcasting and Television Station. The finals of this contest are scheduled in mid-July.
I hope all of you will enjoy my songs and other performances.
