Industrial park launched to boost culture

THE First Shanghai Art Valley Cultural and Creative Industry Summit Forum, which coincided with the grand opening of the Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industry Park, was held on January 4 in Jiading District.
The forum's themes were "How to enlarge and strengthen China's cultural industry" and "How to make the cultural industry park an engine of the cultural industry." Apart from the two topics, there were more deep-seated problems extensively addressed and discussed.
Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industry Park is the major base for the cultural industry supported by Jiading government. The park covers an area of 2 hectares, with 20,000 square meters of building area. It has the biggest single building of art gallery in Asia with an exhibition area exceeding 5,000 square meters. It also has some other facilities including an artworks copyright trading center.
As a pioneer in Shanghai's creative industry, Jiading has been actively promoting its industry restructure. According to Jiading's Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), the development of six key areas is stressed, including Internet information and industrial design.
