Intelligent robots open up a new world
Intelligent robots produced by Jiading-based Shanghai STEP Electric Corporation attracted many visitors and potential clients at recent industrial fairs with the robots showing high-precision skills from drawing and playing chess to industrial-use operations.
As labor costs in China continue to rise, many companies have begun using intelligent robots to replace manual workers.
“Speaking of STEP, many people would think of elevators, which are our main products. However, what we are doing basically is control and drive, which are the two core technologies of robots,” said Zhou Shuopeng, the company’s vice general manager.
The robots that STEP displayed at the China International Industrial Fair can pile up mixed goods automatically and put them on the production line in order. Some can pack and sort products while others can polish products and work under extreme conditions, for example, in dusty conditions, according to the company.
The robots can also be creative, such as drawing a sketch of a person’s face, or playing chess.
Another advantage is that STEP can produce tailor-made products for customers.
“We are not worried about the market,” said Zhou, who said many clients had placed orders for robots.
Shanghai Jiebao King Corporation purchased its robots for automatic welding in production.
