Island's beauty and peace encourages relaxation

"BY racing around, you will never see the beauty of the world, so I always walk slowly." This was the message on a postcard I bought in Gulangyu Island in Xiamen. The leisure and romance I experienced there helped me understand more of this sentiment.
The moment I set my foot on this ocean-surrounded garden, I was deeply fascinated by its beauty. Following the lanes crisscrossing each other and shadowed by either flame trees or ancient banyans you can feel deeply the sense of tranquility. Listening to the melodies of the piano coming from here and there, walking under the shelter of the green trees, you will be intoxicated by the fragrance of different flowers. Each step will take you to a new picture and make you totally relaxed.
There are many scenic spots on the island. Separated by the lanes, they are all so new and wonderful. Sometimes you may get lost. To your surprise, however, where you get lost may precisely be the spot you are looking for. It is so accidental, as if the island is trying to entertain you by pulling your legs. The hotel where I stayed has a funny name: Youjian Hotel (hotel with rooms). It is cozy, and its owner is handsome and conversational. He even asked me for a joint photo before I left.
When in Xiamen, never forget to treat yourself to some of the local dishes. Two eateries are most famous here, Wuzaitian (one more please), with a long history, serves mainly flour noodles in special sauce and rice noodles in gravy, while Huangzehe (wish you a harmonious life), located at the start of the Zhongshan Road, can never be more busy. There is another eatery located on the Minzu Road, serving rice noodles that taste absolutely fabulous.
Gulangyu Island is also a paradise for cats. I've never seen so many cats in my life. On this island, apart from a few battery bikes, there are neither cars nor bicycles. It is really a place ideal for cats to live and play. They look so nice and strong: some are sleeping, some are basking, some are strolling around, and some are even enjoying the scene of the sea.
"Girdled by a sea without bounds, the Gulangyu is a piece of music composed of wave sounds ..." Just as I was about to leave the island, this song came to my ear.
