Jiading invests in seven satellites

WITH a total investment of 655 million yuan (US$101 million), Jiading district government plans to work with a Zhuhai-based high-tech company in a 50-50 investment to send seven satellites into orbit by 2018.
Five satellites will be used to transmit video signals and two will be hyperspectral satellites, a core part of the satellite big data industrial park program. The satellites for transmitting video signals will be sent into orbit in October 2016.
Meanwhile, the construction of a big data industrial park with a satellite operation center and big data processing center will be launched.
After sending the video satellites into orbit, digital communication between the satellite and the Earth will be activated, and the system will be completed with functions including satellite measurement and control, data reception, processing and distribution, laying solid foundation for the operation of following satellites.
Next year the infrastructure of the big data industrial park will be completed.
The satellite operation center will be commissioned and run.
The satellite big data processing center will be put into operation and the construction of the big data application center will kick off.
In 2018, all seven satellites should be in orbit, and the complete functions of the system will be put into place.
After completion, the satellite big data industrial park will provide timely, accurate and high-quality data service for sectors that will include urban planning, environmental protection, water conservancy, agriculture as well as fire control.
