Jiading takes steps against H1N1 flu
JIADING District's 40 kindergartens and 58 elementary and middle schools have improved their morning health checks to help fight the H1N1 virus.
If a student is absent, teachers at the school contact the student's parents immediately to find the reason. If the absence is because of fever and a cold, the teachers immediately contact the school's doctors and report to the district's education bureau to record the information first-hand.
The schools are also teaching students how to prevent the virus in morning meetings, themed class meetings and radio broadcasts.
To safeguard Jiading residents' health and safety, the district's public health, agriculture and education departments have introduced emergency procedures.
At Jiading Central Hospital, the Shanghai Jiading Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Nanxiang Hospital and Anting Hospital, fever clinics have been set up.
The local public health department has also told residents to wash hands regularly after outings and to avoid traveling to places where H1N1 flu has been reported.
The district's agriculture commission has sent notices to towns and villages, telling them to improve H1N1 flu precautions at pig breeding farms. Pig breeding farms have been sealed off. Stricter inspection procedures have been implemented at slaughterhouses.
